Mass Interception Along Lagos – Badagry Corridor , As Over 200 Suspects Nabbed in Amuwo-Odofin
Over 200 individuals suspected of alleged involvement in criminal activity were intercepted in a truck along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway near Alakija Bus Stop, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, raising fresh concerns about growing insecurity in parts of Lagos State.
The Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin, Prince Lanre Sanusi, praised security agencies for their swift response after vigilant residents tipped authorities.
A statement issued Friday, June 12, 2026, and signed by Josephine Owuye, Supervisor for Public Affairs & ICT, said the interception followed credible intelligence from the community and immediate action by local and state security apparatus.
Prince Sanusi said he moved quickly to engage the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant agencies, and that he consulted Lagos State officials to ensure the situation was handled appropriately.
He and officers including Festac Division’s Divisional Police Officer, CSP Bakare Ibrahim, monitored operations to guarantee a coordinated response and proper investigations.
“The safety of our residents remains our number one priority. We will continue working closely with security agencies to investigate and address every potential threat. There can be no compromise on the safety of our people,”
The chairman commended the professionalism of the security personnel involved and urged residents to sustain vigilance and promptly report suspicious movements to help prevent criminal operations and protect lives and property.
Prince Sanusi said, stressing his administration’s commitment to strengthen the local security architecture.
