Stevedoring Giant ; Micura Scores Bunu 1-Year High , Expresses Satisfaction Over Industrial Peace At Seaports

Frontline stevedoring contractor Micura Service Limited (MSL) has expressed satisfaction with the current peace and relative harmony in port operations.

The company commended Comrade Francis Bunu Abi on completing one year in office as President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN).

Managing Director/CEO of Micura Service Limited, Chief Michael Orobosa Ubogu, gave the commendation in Lagos while speaking with DAILYFOCUS NIGERIA.

Ubogu described the unionist as a skilled negotiator who has performed beyond expectations, noting that MWUN has demonstrated a high level of professionalism in seaport operations.

The maritime pundit said that under Bunu’s watch the union has shown purposeful leadership, adding that workers’ welfare has continued to improve across the four branches.

“Though there are bound to be challenges in the system, I can say that in terms of purposeful leadership and negotiation, the President-General has done very well.

“Without sentiment, the union under Bunu is enjoying smooth progress in workers’ welfare and relative peace in the ports.

“For the terminals and other branches that have concluded their CBAs, I must say he has done very well, and those yet to conclude theirs will also fare well,” Ubogu noted.

The Micura boss also commended Comrade Adewale Adeyanju for handing over to a unionist who has taken bold steps to prioritize workers’ welfare and improve the lot of MWUN members..

Speaking on port operations, Ubogu said dockworkers have ensured that cargoes are moved out of terminals as due, stressing that cargo throughput has increased over the last six months.
