Hausa Line Clinches Title At Micura Street Soccer Championship 2026 After Penalty Drama

Hausa Line were crowned champions of the 3rd edition of the MICURA Street Soccer Championship on Saturday, June 13, 2026, after edging Chekas United FC 5–4 in a decisive penalty shootout at Nathaniel Idowu Pitch, Oregie.

The final produced a tense, goalless 90 minutes before Hausa Line converted more spot-kicks to secure the trophy in front of an animated crowd.

Earlier in the day, Jejelaiye Street defeated Mission Street on penalties to claim third place, setting the stage for the evening’s climax.

Sponsored by MICURA Services Limited and packaged by Sholly Sports, this year’s tournament offered a combined prize pool of ₦5 million for winners and runners-up.

The event is the brainchild of High Chief Michael Orobosa Ubogu, MICURA’s Managing Director/CEO and an Ajegunle street-football alumnus, who cut short engagements in Canada to attend the finals in person.

High Chief Ubogu, his daughter and staff of the stevedoring firm joined residents and supporters to celebrate grassroots talent and community spirit.

Launched to provide a platform for local players to showcase their skills and attract wider opportunities, the MICURA Street Soccer Championship has grown into one of Ajegunle’s premier grassroots football events and a stepping stone for youths seeking discovery beyond the neighbourhood.

For many in Ajegunle, the 2026 final will be remembered as a showcase of resilience and local pride, reinforcing the tournament’s role as a heartbeat of grassroots football development in the area.
