FRSC Deploys 30,000+ Personnel Nationwide For Eid El‑Kabir Special Patrols
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched nationwide Special Patrol Operations ahead of the 2026 Eid El‑Kabir, deploying more than 30,000 regular and special marshals from 25 to 31 May to ensure safer roads, unhindered movement and rapid emergency response.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed reassured Nigerians of the agency’s readiness for a safe, crash‑free celebration.
The weeklong operation—part of the Corps’ annual festive intervention—targets accident reduction, congestion relief and swift clearance of highway obstructions during the Sallah travel peak.
According to a statement on Saturday, 23 May, 2026., FRSC says the deployment includes patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, motorcycles, radar guns and breathalysers positioned at strategic locations across critical corridors.
The Mobile courts and 24‑hour shift patrols, including dedicated night rescue teams, will enforce traffic laws and fast‑track prosecution of offenders.
The Corps warned it will focus enforcement on excessive speed, dangerous overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, mobile phone use, defective vehicles and other behaviours that drive fatal crashes.
Major routes earmarked for intensive coverage include the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano, Ibadan–Ogere–Sagamu, Sagamu–Mowe–Lagos and several other traffic‑prone corridors nationwide.
FRSC also said it will coordinate with the Nigeria Police, NSCDC, FERMA, military units and emergency medical services. Motorists were urged to drive patiently, obey regulations, avoid night travel when possible, and use the emergency number 122 or National Traffic Radio 107.1FM to report incidents.
