The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), working with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, has contained a fire that broke out from a leaking six-tyre mini gas tanker at the Owode Elede corridor, inward Ikorodu.

The tanker developed a mechanical fault while in transit, leading to compressed gas leakage that ignited around the vehicle. LASTMA’s Rescue and Recovery Team promptly deployed to the scene alongside firefighters.

To minimise disruption and maintain safe vehicular movement, LASTMA operatives opened an alternative passage using one serviceable lane together with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor for controlled traffic management. As a result, traffic along the affected axis remained orderly and substantially free-flowing throughout the operation.

The General Manager of LASTMA praised the swift collaboration between all emergency responders and reiterated the importance of public cooperation during such incidents. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, obey traffic regulations and follow instructions from emergency personnel.

“LASTMA remains committed to protecting lives and property, ensuring traffic fluidity and delivering prompt emergency response across Lagos State’s transport network.”
