The National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) has sounded an urgent safety alarm for Indian crew members operating near Iran’s coast, citing the escalating war-like situation in the region.
In an advisory note addressed to all seafarers and their families, NUSI urged immediate action to ensure safety.
Key directives include:Reporting vessel details, position, and contact information right away to the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) and NUSI.Maintaining constant communication with the ship’s master and shore-based support teams.

The advisory disclosed strictly following security protocols and avoiding restricted or high-risk zones.Family members updating their contact details with NUSI and DG Shipping for swift information relay.
NUSI General Secretary-cum-Treasurer Milind Kandalgaonkar emphasized full support, stating the union is coordinating with government agencies to prioritize crew safety.
