NDLEA Marine Unit Begs Customs For Accommodation Of Personnel At Yekeme Outstation

The Marine Commander , National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA ), Morrison Udoh has appealed to management of the Nigeria Customs Service NCS to help in the provision of accomodations for personnel at Yekeme outstation , Badagry, Lagos.
Udoh reiterated that lack of accommodation for officers and men of the Marine Unit of NDLEA posed serious challenges for their overall performance within the Badagry waterways but added that with the support from management of the service would go a long way to curb illicit drugs importation to Nigeria.
The Marine Commander spoke in Lagos during a courtesy visit to Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service recently in Lagos.
He said :”The purpose of my visit is to synergize and build on the existing working relationship.
“Besides that, a place like Yekeme, I have visited that place and I was told that my officers that are there do not have a place to stay . Even though it is a room or two provided to them will go a long way .

“We have just started even though NDLEA has been in existence,it is a small organization when compared with Nigeria customs, therefore we need your cooperation,” Udoh stated.
Shortly after receiving the items seized by customs, the Marine Commander NDLEA, who was also on a courtesy visit to the command, reaffirmed the commitment of the two agencies to continue to work together to rid the country of illicit drugs.
He further commended the service for the fight against smuggling on Nigeria’s waterways and expressed optimism for improved synergy.
Responding on the request, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) Comptroller, Paul Bamisaiye assured the Marine Commander, that management of the service would assist in providing accommodation for personnel of NDLEA at Yekeme outstation.
He recalled that the request by NDLEA has been escalated to management of the service adding that management of the service is working round the clock to provide the needed accomodations for personnel of NDLEA.
Bamisaiye noted that the working relationships between the two sister agencies have over the years have improved adding that the collaboration has been a success story.
