Immigration Boss Sues For Peace, Investigates Rift Between LG Chairman ,Oyo Command Personnel

The Nigeria Immigration Service has reaffirmed the commitment of a robust working relationship with officials of the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, saying the agency has huge regards as well as honour for democratic institutions and thus should not be involved in anything to the contrary.

 

 

Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI), Muhammad Babandede disclosed this on Thursday in a press statement made available to DAILYFOCUS NIGERIA.

 

According to the statement,signed by the Public Relations Officer of the service, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, Mr. Amos Okpu ,the Comptroller General was disturbed that a minor misunderstanding was not quickly resolved leading to an unnecessary scuffle between two friendly agencies that have maintained very cordial relationship over the years.

The Immigration boss was quoted saying that the Ibadan North Local Government Council remains one of the best immediate neighbours and indeed the nearest democratic institution to the Oyo State Command Complex.

 

 

“The Service and Ibadan North Local Government Council have continued to enjoy excellent neighbours over the decades thereby making this altercation most unfortunate.

 

 

” Our agency has huge regards as well as honour for democratic institutions and thus should not be involved in anything to the contrary.

“The Comptroller General holds the Chairman of the Council and his Management team in high esteem and so has ordered an investigation into the unfortunate development,”the statement stressed.

He however, appealed for calm stressing that due diligence will be taken to not only ensure amicable resolution of the matter but that any Personnel found to have acted unprofessionally is appropriately sanctioned.

 

 

Recall that there was sporadic gunshots at Agodi-Gate area of Ibadan on Wednesday after some immigration officers allegedly harassed a local government chairman and some of his aides.

 

It was gathered  that the immigration officers allegedly slapped Mr. Shuaib Yusuf Oladayo, Chairman of Ibadan Ibadan North Local government area, Wednesday afternoon.

 

Reports suggested that the headquarters of Oyo State command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) was close to the Ibadan North local government Secretariat.
