WAEC Fees Paid: Gov. Eno Approves ₦1.368bn, Pledges ₦3.2bn For Akwa Ibom Education

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved payment of examination fees totalling ₦1.968 billion for students at the basic and secondary levels, reinforcing his administration’s drive to expand access to quality education and relieve parents of exam-related costs.

This was contained in a statement signed: by Aniekan Umanah on Tuesday July 14 2026.

The statement noted that under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Eno reaffirmed his commitment to free and compulsory education, directing the Ministry of Education and relevant agencies to implement the approval immediately and ensure timely payment so no student is disadvantaged by financial barriers.

Breakdown of approved funding:
₦1.368 billion for WASSCE fees and related costs, including National Identification Number (NIN) registration, online and offline biometric enrolment, science practical examinations, Continuous Assessment (CASS), monitoring, and exam administration.
₦50 million for NABTEB examination fees.
₦550 million for key state examinations, including the Common Entrance and Placement Examination, Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Senior Secondary II Promotion Examination, Entrance Examination into Senior Science Colleges, and the Entrance Examination into Government Model Girls’ Secondary School, Akwa Ibom State.

The intervention will benefit thousands of students across the state, furthering the administration’s objective to remove barriers to education, enhance learning outcomes, and promote equal opportunities regardless of socio‑economic background.

This latest approval, together with the ₦1.3 billion committed for the 2025/2026 academic session bursary scheme, highlights the government’s sustained investment in human capital and its resolve to build an education system that equips Akwa Ibom children with the skills and knowledge for future success.
