In line with Lagos State’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind in the quest for accessible healthcare, Health District III has successfully concluded an impactful medical outreach to three riverine communities in the Epe Local Government Area of the State.
The outreach, which targeted Emmuna, Saga, and Abomiti communities all located within the Olugbokere Ward, delivered essential healthcare services directly to residents who typically face significant geographical barriers to access.
Speaking on the initiative, the Permanent Secretary of Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, emphasised the programme’s holistic approach to community wellness.
She said: “These outreach programmes ensure our riverine communities receive comprehensive healthcare services right at their doorstep. We are not just treating illness, we are promoting wellness and preventing disease through education and early intervention.
“We navigated deep into Epe’s waterways by boat in demonstration of our resolve to bring healthcare to even the most remote communities,” she stated.

The Permanent Secretary noted that the residents, including elderly individuals and young mothers, embraced the opportunity of the outreach for long-awaited health screenings and education on preventive practices.
She described the initiative as a clear reflection of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s commitment to equitable healthcare access, especially for underserved and hard-to-reach areas.
Dr. Adeleke affirmed that efforts like these will continue to bridge identified healthcare gaps and promote a healthier, more inclusive society for all.
During the intervention, residents received free medical consultations, free eyeglasses, dental and health screenings, along with immunization services for children and infants.
The outreach also featured maternal and child health education, distribution of essential medications, and awareness campaigns on preventive care, equipping community members with vital health knowledge.
Additional services offered included blood pressure and diabetes monitoring, as well as family planning counselling and services, a comprehensive package aimed at promoting both immediate relief and long-term wellness.
