Apapa General Hospital Joins Counterparts To Celebrates National Safe Motherhood Day 2023

Family Planning, Paediatric, Obstetrics / Gynaecology and Antenatal Clinic  departments ,Apapa General Hospital have joined the rest of the world in celebration of the National Safe Motherhood Day 2023.

The National Safe Motherhood Day is celebrated April 11th of every year to raise awareness about the care and treatment required for new or soon to be mothers.

National safe motherhood day is also an opportunity to demand better healthcare facilities from the government for expectant women.

The management of Apapa General Hospital, HearLand Alliance, Shalimar Pharmaceutical, Ayo Nestle and Maersk Limited are co-sponsors and baby items were donated.

Speaking at the event the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant, Dr. Adeyemi A.A, said the importance of the day is to fight maternal death to unsafe motherhood and  raise awareness to the general public and to teach women, mother’s the necessity of prenatal, childbirth and postnatal care.

Dr. Adebayo Mosunmola said the  safe motherhood has ten pillars and the celebration of the day is aimed to increase the knowledge of ordinary people about the significance of getting appropriate access to healthcare during gestation, delivery and postpartum.

Dr. Adebayo explain further that it’s also important to make mothers understand that not only safeguards the mother, but also to ensure the child’s safety. She equally advice our young girls about the danger in aborting unwanted pregnancy.

The Medical Director/ Chief Executive Officer of General Hospital Apapa Dr. Ajibola Keshinro tenders unreserved appreciations to all the that have faith in us and belief in the Hospital’s agenda.

He said when you educate one woman you can change a life, when you educate many mothers you can change the world.

“Here we are  educating our mothers, our efforts here today will definitely not be lost, ” he stated
