Gun Recovered As Police Arrest 10 After Violent Clashes Disrupt APC Primaries In Alimosho

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects and recovered a locally made gun after violent clashes disrupted All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Alimosho and Mushin on Saturday.

The first incident occurred at the Ikotun Egbe polling centre on Onilewura Street, Liasu Road, Alimosho, where hoodlums stormed the venue and fired sporadically, causing panic that forced voters, delegates and party officials to flee.

Several party members sustained varying injuries and some residents and participants were robbed of mobile phones and other valuables during the chaos.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer ASP Femi Adeoye confirmed that no lives were lost, despite rumours to the contrary, and said the suspects are held at Ikotun Divisional Police Station for further investigation.

He added that a locally made firearm was recovered from the suspects and vowed thorough probes to identify the sponsors and motives behind the attack, urging residents to cooperate with security agencies.

Separately, violence also erupted at the APC House of Representatives primary for Mushin Constituency II before voting began, triggering a stampede as delegates and supporters fled. Prominent aspirants in the contest included Seye Oladejo and incumbent Hon. Oluwatoyin Fayinka, among others. Police have promised to pursue those responsible and ensure a full investigation.
