NNPP Slams Baba-Ahmed’s ‘Selective’ ADC Visit, Accuses INEC Of Court Defiance
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has faulted Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) leader Hakeem Baba-Ahmed for a “hypocritical” solidarity visit to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of disobeying a Federal Capital Territory High Court order.
Secretary General Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday criticized the PRP stalwart in a statement made available to newsmen.
In a statement, Sunday criticized Baba-Ahmed’s speech at ADC, which condemned INEC’s “assumed authority” to interpret court judgments.
“What INEC needed was a judicial review, not playing jury,” Sunday quoted Baba-Ahmed, but charged him with ignoring Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima’s alleged unauthorized use of the NNPP logo.
The Scribe pointed out that”As PRP leader, Ahmed should have visited NNPP first before ADC,” Sunday said, alleging Kwankwaso advised collapsing NNPP structures into ADC, leaving “unemployed characters” like Dipo Olayokun, Barrister Ladipo Johnson, and Prince Onu Nweze to disrupt the party.
Sunday highlighted INEC’s non-compliance with a court order mandating action within 72 hours, backed by an affidavit. “INEC is waiting for us to discuss before enforcing—turning their office into a courtroom,” he said, warning of potential 2027 election delays and calling on President Bola Tinubu to probe INEC ahead of polls.
“Baba-Ahmed’s visit signals “responsible statesmanship” but falls short, Sunday added, urging ADC to reject Kwankwaso and Galadima’s actions as “criminal” and “evil.” NNPP vowed to pursue court action if delays persist.
