Eastern Naval Command Conducts Free Medical Outreach To Mark 2025 Navy Week Celebration

 

In celebration of the Nigerian Navy’s 69th anniversary, the Eastern Naval Command led a free medical outreach event, dubbed the Medical Rhapsody, on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Millennium Park, Calabar.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral S.A. Akinwande.

The event , according to a statement, provided residents of the host community with access to a range of free medical services, including blood pressure monitoring, diabetes screening, hepatitis B and C testing, malaria diagnosis, and general medical consultations. In addition, beneficiaries were given free medications, eyeglasses, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

The Medical Rhapsody was officially launched by the Chief Staff Officer of the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral D.M. Ndanusa, who represented Rear Admiral Akinwande. Other notable attendees included the Fleet Commander Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral K.O. Oguntuga, Principal Staff Officers of the Command, the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, as well as senior officers and personnel from the Eastern Naval Command Calabar area.

The outreach drew a large turnout from the local community, with many participants expressing their appreciation for the Nigerian Navy’s humanitarian gesture. The initiative is part of the Navy’s ongoing commitment to enhancing civil-military relations and promoting the health and well-being of communities within its operational areas.
