NAGAFF Makes Move To Resolve Suspended Customs Licenses On Behalf Of Freight Agents

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has announced a crucial opportunity for members affected by suspended Customs licenses to resolve their cases.

Following NAGAFF’s recent appeal to the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), the CGC has responded positively, requesting a list of suspended licenses for reconsideration.

This development follows recent industry disruptions and regulatory challenges in Nigeria’s customs and freight forwarding sectors, highlighting the importance of effective stakeholder engagement and government collaboration.

According to a statement on Saturday, by fwdr. Godfrey Emeka Nwosu , Secretary-General, NAGAFF, affected members are urged to submit detailed information including license holder name, licensed number, suspension date and reason, and contact details by May 12, 2025, adding that submissions can be made via email or delivered in person to NAGAFF headquarters in Apapa ,Lagos.

Nwosu reiterated that NAGAFF will compile and forward the list to the CGC, aiming for a swift and favorable resolution, noting that the association emphasizes the urgency of this action to maximize the benefits of ongoing cooperation with customs management.

The statement noted that members from the freight forwarding community are advised to contact the NAGAFF Secretariat directly.

“We are writing to inform you of an important development regarding suspended Customs licenses. Following NAGAFF’s recent letter to the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), advocating for a reconsideration of these cases, we are pleased to report that the CGC has responded quickly and positively by requesting a list of the licenses in question.

“This prompt response from the CGC presents a crucial opportunity for our members affected by license suspensions. We encourage you to take advantage of this opening to potentially resolve these issues.

“To assist in compiling the required list for submission to the CGC, we urgently request all members with suspended Customs licenses to provide the following information without delay,” it statement reads .
