Gbaaloo Nyokhana USA Tasks Rivers Police Command To Intensify Security Against Fulani Attacks

The Gbaaloo Nyokhana Social Cultural Group in the USA has called on the  Inspector General of police ,the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Port Harcourt to intensify security for the protection of lives and properties for the people under the community of Nyokuru in Nyor-khana of Khana Local Government Area of the state.

The USA based social cultural group frowned at the recent killing of an indigene of the community by alleged fulani herdsmen, even as they described it as an act of extreme violence.

According to a statement jointly signed by Comrade Lebari Nzidee, President, Samuel Nwibana Secretary General and Barineka Akponi Public Relations Officer of Gbaaloo Nyokhana Social Cultural Group said the victim was dismembered following an altercation over the alleged killing of a small cow on his farm.

They added that the horrific event not only underscores the escalating tensions between farmers and herdsmen in the region but also poses a significant threat to the safety and security of the communities.

The statement further pointed out that the violent nature of the incident was alarming and raises serious concerns about the potential for further retaliatory violence noting that such acts can incite fear among local residents and may lead to a breakdown of law and order, exacerbating existing conflicts between agricultural and pastoral communities.

The group further maintained that It is imperative that the police and community leaders address the situation promptly to prevent any further loss of life and to restore peace in the area.

The statement also urged the police top brass to take immediate action by conducting a thorough investigation into this incident that led to the fracas stressing that It is crucial to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime and to ensure that justice is served.

“Additionally, I recommend that the police increase their presence in Nyokuru and surrounding areas to deter any further violence and to reassure the community of their safety.

While calling for the commissioner’s urgent attention on the matter, the group appealed for the necessary steps to ensure the safety of the communities and to prevent further tragedies

“Moreover, I believe it is essential to foster dialogue between the affected communities to address the underlying issues that have led to such violent confrontations.
