TENURE EXPIRATION: Abia Govt Sacks NURTW Executives In Aba

The Abia State Government has called for the immediate dissolution of the Aba Township Bus Drivers’, a branch of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The government also directed the State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Eugene Job to, as a matter of urgency to dissolve the already expired tenure of officers of Aba Township Bus Drivers’ branch.

In a statement on Friday, signed by
Dr. A.C.B. Agbazuere, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Consequently, said the earlier government appointed Caretaker Committee becomes extinguished and otiose.

The statement added that “Abia State Government after due consultations and discreet review of extant laws in relation to the case of Aba Township Bus Drivers’, a branch of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), hereby directs the Abia State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Eugene Job to, as a matter of urgency, dissolve the already expired tenure of officers of Aba Township Bus Drivers’ branch of the Union.

“The Union should also proceed to plan and conduct elections for them within the month of September, 2020 to avoid possible chaos, speculations and lawlessness which shall not be tolerated in this State.
