In continuation of the Nigerian Railway Modernisation Project (Lagos-Ibadan section) that will extend to the Apapa Ports, the Lagos State Government will close Badia Junction and Gaskiya level crossings from 9.30 pm on Sunday, 14th to 6.00 am on Monday, 15th March, 2021.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde disclosed that the Construction Company, China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) Nigeria Limited, would commence the Track Stress Dispersion on the level crossings on the Apapa end of the railway project.
The Commissioner, therefore, advised motorists going to Badia from Ijora 7up to navigate their way through Marine Bridge to link Boundary inwards Olayinka Street to connect Gaskiya Road to access Badia, adding that motorists going to Badia from Lagos-Badagry Expressway are to utilise Orile inwards Sari-Iganmu Road inwards Gaskiya Road to connect Badia.
He implored all road users in the axis to comply with the traffic directions and signals, stressing that the State Traffic Management Personnel will also be on ground to minimise inconveniences that may be experienced while the construction work lasts.
While appealing to residents of the State, especially motorists plying the corridors to comply with all traffic directives, Oladeinde said the project is aimed at achieving a seamless Multi-Modal Transport System that will meet the transportation needs of a larger population.
Also, the State Government will close Abule-Nla and Brewery Level Crossings for construction works on the rail track from 9:30pm on Friday 12th March, to 6:00am Saturday 13th March, 2021 in continuation of the Railway Modernisation Project.
the Commissioner noted that the Construction Company, China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) Nigeria Limited, would commence a Track Stress Dispersion on the level crossings during the closure.
He said as a result of the temporary closure of the aforementioned routes, the Costain Bridge will be opened to all motorists to serve as an alternative route to aid movements to their various destinations.
The Commissioner advised road users to comply with the State’s Traffic Management Personnel directives as well as obey the strategically placed road signals to minimise inconveniences that may be experienced while the construction work lasts.

Meanwhile in furtherance of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to ensure effective and efficient transportation through quality road infrastructure, the Falomo Bridge will be closed for repair works for six weeks from Sunday, 14th March to Friday 30th April, 2021.
A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Transportaion, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, noted that the repairs will run on a 24-hour shift in phases to enable the contractor complete repairs within the estimated set time and minimise the anticipated inconveniences to road users.
He explained that the first stage of the repairs will cover the Victoria Island-bound lane of the bridge, which will be closed to traffic, adding that motorists heading towards Victoria Island will be diverted to the Ikoyi bound lanes to create a counter-flow.
The Commissioner also said that while the Ikoyi bound lane will be closed down for the second stage of rehabilitation works, in a similar fashion, motorists will be diverted to other lanes, assuring that sufficient signage would be put up to guide motorists, just as traffic management personnel will deployed to help motorists navigate their journeys with ease.
Oladeinde, however, appealed to the good people of the State to cooperate with the Government by complying with the directives and traffic advisory to allow contractors to finish the projects in record time.
