The Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has been announced as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 National Conference of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, (CILT) Nigeria.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Professor Kayode Oyesiku, FCILT, at a pre-conference press briefing held at the NIMASA Resource Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos on Wednesday
Addressing newsmen , Oyesiku who was represented by Professor Ogochukwu Ugboma disclosed that the conference, scheduled to take place from October 21 to 23, 2026, at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, will focus on the theme: “Transforming Nigeria’s Transport and Logistics Systems for Shared Prosperity and Sustainable Infrastructure.”
According to him, Governor Uzodimma’s participation will bring valuable state-level perspectives to discussions on the development of Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector, particularly the need to connect national policy with practical implementation across the states.
He stated that the conference is expected to provide a platform for policymakers, regulators, transport and logistics operators, investors, academics, technology providers, development partners, students and young professionals to examine solutions to the country’s infrastructure and supply-chain challenges.
Primarily ,the Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, added that the Professor Ayo Omotayo, Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, is expected to lead the keynote discourse at the event.
He said the conference would address sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure, digital transformation, smart logistics, multimodal connectivity, governance and policy reform, infrastructure financing, human-capital development, professional excellence, inclusive mobility and logistics for national development.
He pointed out that the gathering had been designed as a solutions-oriented platform rather than another forum for merely restating the challenges facing the sector.
“The conference will also feature academic paper presentations, a NEXT GEN Hour for students and young professionals, a conference dinner and awards ceremony, as well as a technical field tour aimed at linking policy discussions with operational realities.
“A communiqué containing key recommendations and commitments from the sessions will be issued at the end of the conference, ” noted
The CILT Nigeria leadership said the conference was necessary because transport and logistics remained central to the performance of the national economy, influencing food distribution, business competitiveness, employment, road safety, trade, investment and national productivity.
Oyesiku called on the media, transport and logistics companies, professional associations, unions, regulators, researchers, investors, technology firms, development partners and members of the public to participate actively in the event.
The institute stressed that an efficient transport and logistics system would enable goods to move more quickly, connect people to economic opportunities, improve business competitiveness and promote inclusive development across the country.
