The Ogun State Government has flagged-off E-Third Party Insurance Scheme, to ensure efficient and transparent service delivery, that will make insurance firms accountable in all transactions.
The Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo while officially flagging-off the scheme in Abeokuta, reiterated the present administration’s interest to encourage holistic partnership with stakeholders by removing bottlenecks experienced by motorists in perfecting their vehicle papers.
Okubadejo said the scheme, when fully embraced, would eradicate fake insurance certificates and increase revenue generation into government coffers.
The present administration’s desire is to run a government that is inclusive, participatory, promotes efficiency, transparency and also encourages holistic partnership from Stakeholders that will contribute to economic development of the State”, he said.
Earlier in his contribution, the Executive Chairman Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye pointed out that the third-party insurance certificate is the least policy motorists must obtain, before being eligible to use the road, saying the scheme would be of great benefit to them.
He disclosed that his agency would commence total enforcement, from Tuesday, November 2, 2021 on all revenue items, warning members of the public to ensure all outstanding tax liabilities, including vehicle papers are updated.
Speaking, representative of the President of Nigeria Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Barr. Oluwarotimi Edun and the Coordinator of the scheme, Mr. Akinyoola Moses, noted that the scheme would eradicate fake insurance certificate and also bring succour to the motoring public in case of eventuality.
Also present at the event were, representatives of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), ACCOMORAN, AMORAN, ROMO and Ministry of Transportation.
