NNPP Declares Kwankwaso Followers No Longer Party Members After MoU Termination
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has reaffirmed that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya Movement followers are no longer party members, following the termination of their partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
In a strongly worded press release, NNPP Secretary General Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday emphasized that the MoU formed the sole basis of the relationship between the party and Kwankwaso’s group.
“The implication is simple: any person who is a member of the Kwankwasiyya Movement led by Senator Kwankwaso ceases to be a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party as soon as the MoU was terminated,” the statement declared.
“The NNPP highlighted court rulings from the Abia State High Court, Federal Capital Territory High Court, and Owerri Appeal Court, which confirmed the expulsion of Kwankwaso, Elder Buba Galadima, and the defunct National Working Committee (NWC) led by Dr. Ahmed Ajuji. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was informed and participated in these processes.
The release dismissed recent alleged “deceitful resignations” by these individuals as meaningless, since they had already been ousted. It clarified that only Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf submitted a formal resignation, which the party deems genuine due to his pardon.
Non-Kwankwasiyya executive members at state levels were urged to seek clearance from the Agbo Gilbert-led NWC, while former NWC loyalists like Dipo Olayoku and Prince Onu Nweze were described as abandoned figures amid internal chaos in Kwankwaso’s camp after his move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The NNPP also criticized INEC for ignoring court orders, calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and reform the electoral body’s legal department to protect democracy.
“This press release is forwarded to Mr. President, the Chief Judge of the Federation, and the Hon. Minister of Justice for necessary action,” Sunday concluded.
