Nigerian Travel Experts Empowered To Boost Gambia-Africa Tourism Ties

In a strategic move to deepen tourism collaboration between Nigeria and The Gambia, eighty-nine members of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) have been officially certified as Gambia Tourism Destination Specialists. This milestone follows an intensive four-day training program organized by the Gambia Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, designed to equip Nigerian travel professionals with cutting-edge skills in sales, marketing, destination management, and regional commerce.

The training, which included practical field exposure to Gambia’s vibrant tourism sector, was marked by high engagement and commitment from participants, many visiting The Gambia for the first time. Honorable Alieu Baldeh, a key figure in The Gambian Parliament’s Tourism Committee, praised the dedication of the Nigerian delegates and reaffirmed the Gambian government’s strong support for fostering cultural tourism as a vital economic driver.

NANTA President Yinka Folami emphasized the critical role of continuous professional development in navigating the fast-evolving travel industry. He challenged the newly certified specialists to actively leverage their knowledge to transform tourism and trade relations between Nigeria and The Gambia, ultimately enhancing cultural exchange and economic growth across Africa.

As the delegation prepares to return home via Airpeace, the official carrier for this initiative, both nations look forward to a future of enriched tourism partnerships and shared prosperity.
