Aviation Ministry, FAAN Sync On Reforms Efficiency
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mahmud Adam Kambari, have synergy toward promoting efficiency ecosystem
This was made know at a strategic familiarization tour at its Ikeja headquarters on Monday, April 20 2026.
This alignment signals a unified push to elevate governance, competitiveness, and growth in Nigeria’s aviation landscape.
The high-level visit aimed to boost collaboration between the Ministry and FAAN, zeroing in on efficiency, sustainability, and top-tier service in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
FAAN’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, Olubunmi Kuku, led top management in presenting the agency’s operations, strategic goals, and challenges like pension issues, finance reconciliations, soaring energy costs, and security training needs.
Kuku spotlighted successes, including extensive training for thousands of staff and stakeholders in areas like aviation security, engineering, and safety.
She noted gains in passenger services, staff welfare, and a cultural overhaul via FAAN’s Acculturalization Programme. Key wins include the recent recertification of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, bolstering global standards and inter-agency ties.
Kambari praised FAAN’s resilience and reforms, urging stronger Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) for investments, transparent contracts, certified procurement staff, smarter workforce planning amid budget limits, and revamped energy models for sustainability.
The tour wrapped with an on-site inspection at MMIA, where Kambari got a firsthand look at projects and operations.
