Ex NIMASA ED – Victor Ochei Dumps APC, Says Decision Not Born of Bitterness

Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor O. Ochei (Esq.), has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, saying he had decided to continue his political career outside the party.

This was confirmed in an exit statement addressed to political associates, supporters and the people of Delta State.. Ochei a former Executive Director , Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) said the decision followed “deep reflections and wide consultations.” He joined the APC in 2016 and said he spent the last decade committed to building and strengthening the party at all levels.

The former Delta State speaker affirmed that “I devoted myself wholeheartedly to building and strengthening the APC,” Ochei said, adding that he and other party faithful expanded the party’s reach, deepened its structures and mobilised support across communities.

He noted that his commitment to leadership, service and grassroots development predated the arrival of some current office holders.

Ochei described his departure as a move taken in the interest of growth and political conviction rather than out of “bitterness, resentment, or hostility.” He said leadership must evolve to reflect inclusion, mutual respect and fairness, and that he was charting a “new course” to continue pursuing his vision for the state.

The former lawmaker expressed gratitude to loyal supporters, leaders and stakeholders who stood with him during his time in the party, and urged his followers to remain peaceful and focused on democratic ideals as he moves on.

He concluded by praying for continued blessings on Delta State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ochei did not specify the next political platform he will join or the timing of any further announcements.
