Government Faces Fury , As Truckers Demand Immediate Termination Of TTP Contract

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) stands at a critical crossroads as voices from the heart of the maritime industry rise in fierce opposition to the renewal of the controversial contract with Truck Transit Park Limited (TTP).
Four years of alleged rampant fraud, extortion, and inefficiency have left the electronic call-up system—a lifeline meant to ease congestion—crippled under mismanagement, ultimately strangling the nation’s ports and choking the economy.
On November 9th, 2025, truck owners led by Adeyinka Aroyewun, delivered an urgent and uncompromising appeal to the Managing Director of the NPA.
The message is clear: that the TTP contract must be scrapped, not renewed.
Stakeholders across the board from truck owners battling exorbitant fees to logistics companies and port operators trapped in endless delays have allegedly suffered under the weight of TTP’s dysfunctional system.
Far from streamlining operations, the corrupt electronic call-up system has intensified port congestion, causing devastating supply chain disruptions and inflicting crippling financial losses on the maritime sector.
According to a statement from the truckers stated that with Nigeria’s economic health tied intricately to efficient port management, the current arrangement under TTP not only wastes precious resources but also undermines national progress.
The enormous backlog of trucks, interminable wait times, and opaque dealings have poured fuel on the fire of frustration and economic hardship.COMTUA’s bold call to action demands an immediate halt to this failed experiment.
They insist the government commission a thorough review of the system and engage all stakeholders to forge a transparent, accountable, and effective alternative. The future of Nigeria’s maritime trade and the prosperity of its economy depend on decisive action now not on prolonging a contract that has become a national liability.
