NLC Appoints MWUN Leaders As Electoral Officers For State Women Committee Elections

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has designated Comrade Funmi Fasan, Deputy President General of the Maritime Workers Union (MWUN), and Comrade Martina Njoku, Vice President General of MWUN, as electoral and returning officers for the forthcoming NLC State Women Committee elections set for Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

According to a letter from NLC Acting Secretary General Comrade Benson Utah, Comrade Fasan will oversee the electoral process in Enugu State, while Comrade Njoku will supervise the elections in Ekiti State.

Both officers from MWUN are tasked with working closely alongside the Chairpersons of their respective State Women Committees to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of the elections.

Their responsibilities include verifying nomination forms to confirm candidates meet eligibility criteria, accrediting delegates in line with official lists, accurately tallying votes and promptly announcing results, submitting detailed reports including election outcomes and nomination forms to the NLC National Secretariat in Abuja, and delivering goodwill messages on behalf of the NLC to participants and delegates.

The NLC has set a deadline of August 25, 2025, for the submission of these reports, which must include the names of all candidates, their positions, scores, and any relevant remarks.
