POTEMAN Honours Omajuwa, Watolye, Saka, Others At Maiden International Award Ceremony

The Port and Terminal Management Academy of Nigeria (POTEMAN), in collaboration with Highstone Global University, Texas, USA, honoured distinguished personalities in the maritime sector at its maiden international award ceremony held on Friday, July 11, 2025.

The event recognized notable players from both the public and private sectors for their outstanding contributions to capacity building and sustainability in the maritime industry. The honourees were selected for their unwavering support and dedication to advancing the goals of POTEMAN over the years.

A total of 31 distinguished individuals were celebrated for their roles in the success stories of POTEMAN. Award recipients included:

Registrar, POTEMAN,Prof Babatunde Samuel presenting an award to Miss Olufunke Ogunjumelo at the 1st International award ceremony held in Lagos on Friday.

 

At the ceremony , Professor Babatunde Samuel, Registrar of POTEMAN,in his remarks , emphasized the academy’s commitment to recognizing leaders who have significantly contributed to the maritime and blue economy sectors. He highlighted that the awards were not restricted to specific categories but were based on the recipients’ overall impact on shipping, port, and terminal operations.

“Everything you see today is based on their contributions to port and terminal activities. We just need to reward these professionals for their support of the gateway to the nation’s economy,” Samuel stated.

Looking ahead, Professor Samuel expressed optimism that the second edition of the international awards, scheduled for 2026, will attract even broader participation from across the West African maritime industry.
