Youths Need To Dominate Freight Forwarding Practice In Nigeria Via Technology – Confidence Ajayi

Fast rising female practitioner in the logistics supply chain, Confidenceย  Ajayi has challenged Nigerian youths to apply Information Technology (IT) in freight forwarding practice as part of efforts to modernize , professionalise and revolutionize the sub sector .

Ajayi who doubles as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Confidence Link Services, a freight forwarding company, in a chat on Monday in Lagos , canvassed for more youths to participate in freight forwarding practice , in a bid to compete favourably with their foreign counterparts.

Whilst calling on the youths to embrace the logistics supply chain business, she decried the low number of younger practitioners in the profession while stressing the need for more training institutions that can further create the enabling environment for aggressive campaign awareness on boot camp or tailor made programmes.

The female practitioner said with new technology in place, youths can easily take advantage of the profession from their respective employers, parents or bosses towards wealth creation

She advocated for young minds to reinvent the business through the use of modern day technology , specially, as it concerns social media and Artificial intelligence (AI).

According to her, plans are afoot to champion and create a platform that will encourage secondary school students and fresh graduates to understand the nitty gritty of the business of freight forwarding , noting that the sub sector needs to create more awareness through “catch them young” approach.

Emphasizing on youth mentorship in freight forwarding practice, Ajayi noting that ” I have come to realize that a lot of youths don’t even understand what freight forwarding is all about and that there are different sub sector in the process. Aviation and Maritime have there peculiarities in the freight forwarding business, therefore, it is not limited to just one source of logistics.

“Particularly, I feel its a wake up call for me to contribute my quote to promote and encourage more youths into the profession of freight forwarding practice in Nigeria .

“We are the new generation in this business and we have what it takes to globalise the profession the Nigerian way,”

Speaking further, Ajayi who also doubles as the Secretary , Nigerian Association of Freight Forwarders and Consolidators (NAFFAC), Lagos State Chapter , maintained that her desire is to carve a niche through mentorship programmes of young freight forwarders in the country adding that youths dominance in the profession was long overdue.

“We are the future and we have all that is needed in this profession , which is technology , therefore we need to come out and occupy this space “, Ajayi added.
