MWUN Raises Alarm Over CRFFN Budgetary Allocation Removal , Demands Payment Of 6 Months Salary

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has raised the alarm over federal government budgetary allocation removal from the Council for the Regulation Of Freight Forwarding In Nigeria (CRFFN), saying operational activities have been paralyzed due to unpaid workers salaries for over six months.

President General of the union, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN.

Adeyanju who pledged to engage the federal government over the unpaid salaries of staff under the Council for the Regulation Of Freight Forwarding In Nigeria (CRFFN), expressed concerns over the pathetic development .

Adeyanju who led national executive officers of MWUN recently on a courtesy visit to CRFFN headquarters in Lagos was responding to the numerous challenges affecting personnel of the council.

The P-G who was responding to all the enumerated challenges, raised by the acting Registrar of CRFFN/CEO, Uromta Chinyere C. (Mrs), promised to quickly wave into the matter by engaging with the government and all the necessary revenue generating agencies and stakeholders in the maritime sector, so as to effectively nip in the bud the bottleneck militating against the CRFFN core obligations.

Adeyanju lamented that CRFFN name has been removed from the usual annual budgetary allocations by the federal government; which he stated had practically paralysed all functions of the regulating body

He further thanked the Registrar for her resilience and commitment to duty in carrying out her obligations in the face of difficulty and the biting challenges as explained.

He was quoted saying “And to also effectively manage the day to day administration of the body; even as workers salaries are yet to be paid for over six months running; .

During the visit to CRFFN at its operational headquarters, the Union delegations were intimated on the constitution of a “Technical Committee On Identification Of Challenges Militating Against Its Speedy And Efficient Service Delivery On Mandate Of The Council”; as this was revealed on the day for the immediate intervention of the Union.

Earlier, the acting Registrar of CRFFN/CEO, Uromta Chinyere C. (Mrs), explained that the challenges faced by the Council’ was one of the major reasons it had to identify with the Union by affiliate of membership in the Shipping, Clearing & Forwarding Agencies Workers Branch of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, given to the newly created Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy by the President of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCON.
