NPA: Board Members Tour Tin Can Port,  Visit Ikorodu Lighter Terminals Thursday

The newly constituted executive board members of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has concluded plans to tour the Ikorodu Lighter Terminals on a fact finding mission as part of efforts to advice management on the best way in resolving some the challenges affecting operations.

The past board executives had expressed concerns over explosive imports which have been in the facilities for close to three decades.

Chairman of the board , Chief Rickett Akinwumi who stated this on Wednesday during a familarisation tour of Tin Can Island Port Complex (TCIPC) in Lagos told our correspondent that the new  team will visit the same facility on Thursday to x-ray the next line of actions to enable to terminal perform better.

Ricketts who led members of the board to Tin Can Island Port noted that the visit was aimed to engage management team of the port to find out issues facing their operations.

 

The chairman also commended members of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria and Senior Staff Association, NPA respectively for the cordial relationship that exist between management and staff.

 

Due to the ongoing renovation of the NPA building at TCIPC, Ricketts also commended management of JosepDam Port Services Limited,owners of Terminal A for the accommodation for the brief meeting adding the NPA will continue to collaborate with the terminal operators in port efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.

Recall that the Federal Government in April appointed a new board members for NPA and other parastatals under the ministry of transportation.

 

Those that constituted  the board include;Innocent Gamboro Umar,  Board Secretary/Legal Adviser, Mohammed Bello Koko, Abdullazeez Nyako, Professor Idris Abubakar,and  Onari Brown.

 

Others are Ms Adenrele Susannah Adesina, Alh. Mustapha Dutse, Abdulwahab Adeshina, Ghazali Mohammed Mijinyawa and Sen. Ayogu Eze.
