OFF DOCK : SIFAX Group Raises Concerns Over Slow Pace Road Construction

Management of SiFAX Group has lamented the inability to transfer consignments from Tin Can Island Port to its off dock facility at Trinity Bus stop, Apapa Oshodi expressway due to the ongoing road construction .

 

The conglomerate disclosed that since the beginning of the year, cargoes designated for the off dock terminal were yet transferred from Ports and Cargo Handling Services (PCHS), which in turn has been militating against its operations and service delivery.

 

Speaking  with newsmen recently, Head , Corporate Communication and Marketing SiFAX Group, Mr. Muyiwa Akande lamented that the ongoing road construction currently poses a major challenge the reefer based terminal adding that “Coming to Apapa till date is a problem, because we understand the problem of congestion, we understand the problem of the roads.

“In fact one of our terminals at Trinity bus stop is not functioning for over a month now because there is no road to access the facility .

 

“For a month now we have been unable to transfer cargoes from the port to that facility ,so as we speak it’s a big blow to our operations .

He also lamented that the situation at the moment was beyond management control but appealed to the construction company to expedite actions to fast track  the process of completion on the road construction .

Akande assured importers and freight forwarders that  the conglomerate would always ensure safety and  effective service delivery of  consignments noting that the road construction in due cause would be a thing of the past.

 

Our correspondent who visited the Apapa Oshodi Expressway, confirmed that trucks were not allowed in the terminal due to the service lane construction.

 

The terminal now operates under low capacity with less human traffic .
