The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has tested negative to the Coronavirus.

According to a statement on Saturday by Chief John Okiyi Kalu, Commissioner for
Information, Abia state ,the sample submitted on Thursday returned negative the next day thus free from COVID19.
The statement noted that “To the glory of God, repeat COVID-19 test conducted by Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on samples submitted by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Thursday, 2nd July, 2020, returned negative result on Friday, 3rd July, 2020.
“Governor Ikpeazu is therefore deemed free of the virus according to the extant guidelines of NCDC and the World Health Organization (WHO).”
Recall that the governor is said to have last had a dialysis about one week ago and is in a stable condition.
On June 11, the Governor Ikpeazu was confirmed to have diabetes on top of a kidney failure that had further complicated his Coronavirus treatment.
However, before his situation got worse, Ikpeazu made attempts to be flown abroad but the restriction on international flights ban in many countries around the world and his positive status of the virus put paid to that move.
Though he is believed to be in a stable condition at the moment, he is said to still be a long way from full recovery.
