The Delta State Government on Friday , says a total of six approved testing centers are so far under the coordination of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The state government while reiterating it’s commitment to containing the spread of the COVID19 virus and protecting residents from the disease, disclosed that it put in place 2 boat ambulances stationed at the Warri Ports.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye stated this in a sensitization radio programme: Bridge Parliament on Bridge FM, Asaba, via it’s official twitter handle @DSGovernment .
Dr Ononye stated that dedicated ambulances have been put in place in addition to 2 boat ambulances stationed at the Warri Ports and their drivers trained because of the nature of the disease.
Dr. Ononye also disclosed that Delta State settled for the monecullar test methods which are very sensitive and looks for the particular gene components of the virus adding that in the country as a whole, there are for now, only 6 approved testing centers coordinated by the NCDC.
“The State has also set-up a COVID19 Team with personnel from all the State’s medical centers such as: Hospital Management Board, University Teaching Hospital and Federal Medical Center Asaba in collaboration with the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC),” Dr. Ononye said.
