MWUN To Commence Exportation Of Drinkable Water To Middle East

Fresh indications have emerged that the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) , has concluded plans to commence exportation of drinkable water to the Middle East.

 

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) affiliate union recently, registered its organization under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), as part of efforts to boost its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)  profile in furtherance to export Nigerian products.

 

Insider source disclosed to DAILYFOCUS NEWS ONLINE,  that the union has concluded moves to begin exportation of drinkable water to countries like Qatar, Iraq ,Iran and United Arab Emirates (UAE) .

 

Our impeccable source further explained that the think tank team of MWUN conducted an holistic research survey on what to export before it final decision on the commodity.

 

Such countries , according to him, depend largely on water importation  and the union has affirmed its determination to engage both the public and private sectors from those countries.

 

“We discovered that drinkable water in the Arab world is an essential commodity and the why we keyed in and looking towards that direction to export such item to those countries.

 

” There are commodities that would like to export but we have concluded plans to commence exportation of drinkable water “,he added.

 

It would be recalled that In a bid to embrace self reliance and to generate revenue for the sustainance of the union, the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) had ventured into haulage and export businesses.

 

President General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju stated that the union could not rely solely on check off due from members in running the affairs of the union but with the new innovation, would rest to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which would further boost the financial muscle of the union.

 

While highlighting some of his achievements in the last two years in office, the union’s boss reiterated that the limited liability company was a foundation laid by the past President General of MWUN, adding that some unions are thriving through IGR and diversification.

 

According to him, unions like Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and others are some of the organisations that have ventured into projects yielding dividends for members adding that WMUN has what it takes to be part of such success stories.

 

The Union boss who also doubles a a member of Trustee of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), said that the union would diversify into businesses that would boost the welfare of members.

 

He maintained that the union has contributed immensely to the growth of the maritime industry and will be deeply involve in the exportation of legitimate items.

 

“Its all about continuity because my past leader laid the foundation for us and we are trying to improve on it .

 

“We felt we should going a venture that will help members of the union and I believe we have not violate the Nigerian constitution by registering a company.

 

“If look at activities of other unions ,you will agree with me that they don’t believe in the check off dues alone.

 

” Look at NUPENG, they are into hospitality business,same goes to NUT,Food and Beverages Unions etc ; and these people believed that the maritime sector is an industry where milk,honey, and hard currencies are there.

 

He further assured that the business will be handled by experts,adding that sustainability is key to ensure that the business thrive.

 

“We are going to export anything legitimate as law abiding union,” he added.
