WISTA Nigeria Endorses Collaborative Drive For Effective Marine & Blue Economy Policy Implementation

Dr. Odunayo Ani, President of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, has expressed strong support for the Federal Government’s National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy.
Speaking during the 2nd Quarter Citizens and Stakeholders’ Engagement forum put together by the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy held on Thursday in Lagos, Dr. Ani described the event as a pivotal step in Nigeria’s efforts to fully harness the potential of its marine and blue economy sectors.
She lauded the policy as a timely and visionary framework that underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable ocean governance, economic diversification, job creation, and environmental stewardship.
Addressing the Honourable Minister, key stakeholders, and participants, the WISTA President assured stakeholders of foremost female group unwavering commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at unlocking the vast opportunities within Nigeria’s waters for national prosperity and the wellbeing of future generations.

Highlighting WISTA Nigeria’s role as a critical maritime sector stakeholder, Dr. Ani commended the Ministry for creating an inclusive platform that fosters collaboration among public and private sector players, civil society, and academia.
She emphasized that such strategic partnerships are essential for the successful implementation of the national blueprint.
Dr. Ani reaffirmed WISTA Nigeria’s dedication to promoting inclusivity, gender equity, capacity building, and innovation within the marine and blue economy.
The President also welcomed the Ministry’s recognition of women’s vital contributions to maritime development and pledged WISTA’s continued advocacy, training, and partnership efforts to support this agenda.
The Stakeholders’ Engagement forum serves as a critical platform to strengthen cooperation and accelerate the effective implementation of Nigeria’s National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy.
A cross section of stakeholders also took turn to express their support for the growth and development of the Marine and Blue Economy Ministry .
