Why Am Vying For BOT Membership Election Of ANLCA – Babatunde Abdulazeez

Immediate past National Secretary General of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) , Otunba Babatunde Abdulazeez Mikhail has expressed readiness to contest for the Board of Trustee (BOT) members of the foremost freight forwarding group.

The frontline licensed customs broker also promised to put an end to the interference from the board against the National Executives Council of the association , saying that his interest of contesting rely heavy on how to halt any form of dispute between NEC and BOT in the future.

Babatunde who spoke with our correspondent on Tuesday in Lagos, described previous BOTs as a threat to the leadership (National Executives Council of ANLCA noting that with his track records and experience as a member the association and practitioner in maritime activities, there is the need for him be in the Board in furtherance to mediate and interface whenever

According to him, his campaign strategy is focused on “One with God is majority”, affirming that winning and becoming a member of the BOT is germane for ANLCA ‘s growth.

Babatunde who the Managing Director, Mickey Excellency Nigeria Limited, a licensed customs agency, noted that ANLCA needs somebody with track record like him who has the wherewithal for advocacy saddled with integrity.

Babatunde who is a former Chairman ASECO of ANLCA “All the work and structures that I have put in place in ANLCA , I felt the board is always a threat to the well-being of the association if not well redefined constitutionally.

Asked why contesting for the membership of the BOT, he declared that “Overtime , you observed that there is no president that has governed ANLCA very well the real issue is the Board Of Trustee . The leaders have never find it easy to governed because of the board ‘s interference.

He further re-echoed saying, “I felt I have a structure, track record, service and experience that I can render and I will do my best in the board if elected . I want ANLCA to start a new journey whereby there will be no interference between the board and executives,” .

According to him, division among board members always create problems for the national executive council noting that history has it that the BOT is known for truncating any transition hence, the need for him to change the narrative within the board members when elected.

As part of his contribution when elected The former Secretary of Apapa Chapter of ANLCA called on Managing Directors of customs licensed agents who are members of the association to support and vote for him as a board member adding that members need to understand the difference between NECOM and BOT.

He said a vote for him appears to be a vote of renovation and innovation, pointing out that “Am just coming to define the functions of the board and for members to understand who is in charge for the day to day running of ANLCA”.

It was gathered that over 700 customs licensed owners are to vote in the election .
