Tension In Customs, As Top Ranking Officers Panic Over Summon Of 12 Personnel
There are palpable tension and at the Headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Abuja over the summon of twelve personnel by management.

As a result of the summon in Abuja, some top ranking officers were said to be in panic mode over alleged connivance on corruption charges levelled against them.
The Tuesday’s management panel probe of the personnel may possibly implicate some top officials’ of the service, impeccable sources disclosed.
Insider sources explained to our correspondent over the weekend that there is panic in Abuja, because some of the affected personnel may spill the beans and this may involve some top customs officers.
Recall that the officers and men of customs summoned , have been ordered to appear before a panel of investigation by the Customs Police Unit (CPU) at the Headquarters in Abuja unfailingly on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
Unverified though, sources gathered that the Customs Comptroller General Hameed Ali has set machinery in motion to investigate the officers suspected to be members of the fuel smuggling syndicate, aimed at ascertaining their level of involvement in the illegal trade considered to be a grave sabotage and a drain on the nation’s economy.
In a Circular with Reference No: NCS/CPU/HQ/VOL. 10/No74 dated June 8, 2023, titled: Invitation To Report At Customs Police Headquarters and signed by B. S. Sani, a Deputy Comptroller of Customs, the affected officers were ordered to report as directed.
The Circular read: Sequel to on-going investigation directed by the CGC, the underlisted officers are requested to report at the CPU Headquarters on the 13th of June, 2023 by 11.00 Hrs unfailingly”.
But when contacted over the weekend by our correspondent, National Public Relations Officer, customs, Maiwada Abdullahi declined comments .
In furtherance to get first hand information behind the probe, the image maker of customs chose to keep mum over the summon.
