NIWA Board Tasks Management To Phase – Out Wooden Boats, As Oyebamiji Commends Staff

 

 

The newly appointed board chairman , National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Hon. Musa Sarkin-Adar, has urged management of the agency to phase out wooden watercrafts in order to minimize boats accidents on the brown waters.

The chairman board of NIWA made this submission, when management of the Authority paid him a familiarization visit at the Abuja liaison office.

Sarkin- Adar further urged the MD and his team to do their best in order to leave a lasting legacy so that history will remember them.

He further thanked the MD for the warm reception and urged the Authority to do more in connecting other states in the water transportation.

He emphasized on the need for the involvement of the private sector in the development of water transportation, as government cannot do it alone.

Earlier, the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Mr. Bola Oyebamiji commended the efforts of his management team in the development of the Inland Waterways Transportation sub-sector.

According to him, he is blessed with an experienced and dedicated team which he cannot take the glory alone.

The visit was attended by all the Management staff of the Authority.
