The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced plans to install an Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) cable on the Ikeja-West/Akangba 330kV Transmission Line 2.
According to a statement Issued by:
Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs, Transmission Company of Nigeria on Thursday, May 22, 2025, the installation is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, as part of ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the nation’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
During this period, she stated , bulk power transmission to Ikeja, Eko, and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Companies will be temporarily affected. This will result in a nine-hour electricity disruption for customers in Agbara, Otta, and Abeokuta.
She added that TCN has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding of all affected electricity consumers.
In a related development, TCN will carry out its annual preventive maintenance on a 40/44MVA 132/33KV transformer at the Omotosho Transmission Substation on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
This routine maintenance will involve servicing the transformer and associated switchgear to ensure continued efficient operation. As a result, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to supply power to customers connected to the Rubber Estate feeder during the maintenance window.
TCN apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks the affected consumers for their patience and understanding.
