SIFAX In Talks With Boat Manufacturing Firms To Boost Ferry Services

SIFAX Group has disclosed plans to invest massively in water transportation business by acquiring more ferries in a bid to cover more areas of Lagos state.

 

The Manager, Corporate Affairs division of the Group, Muyiwa Akande told our correspondent in Lagos  , last week that the organization was in talks with boat manufacturers for acquisition of the boats.

 

He added that discussion was also in top gear to wrap boat operators who the conglomerate intends to help manage their boats.

 

According to him, there are individuals and organizations who have signified their intentions to use the company’s boats to ferry their staff who live on the Island on daily basis.

 

Akande maintained that the two boats the company presently own are not enough to carry out all the services required of it.

 

His words, “Currently we are discussing with some boat operators and boat manufacturers to partner with us because we want to make it  massive because we presently have two and the number is not enough to take care of the present customers and the prospective ones

 

“We see people particularly organizations making requests to use our services for their staff. I will not be able to mention names because we have not concluded discussions with them but I can tell you some of the big operators who are based on the Island and have their staff across that place are discussing with few of them so that we can use our ferry to take them from Mike 2 down to CMS every morning and same way in the evening.

 

“We are looking at increasing out fleet and we are also looking at the possibility of managing ferry for some boat operators.

 

“It is not something that will take too long to come to fruition because we have had series of meetings.

 

“I don’t know the number of ferry we are likely to acquire but it is going to be massive that is why we are working with boat manufacturers and we are also looking at managing for people depending on what we are able to agree with them.
