Senate To Hold Public Hearing On Coast Guard Bill, Thursday December 5th
The Nigerian Senate committee on Marine Transport is set to hold a Public Hearing to discuss the pros and cons of the controversial bill on coast guard.
The Nigerian coast guard bill establishment 2024 (SB 575) is sponsored by Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun who doubles as the chairman Senator Committee on Marine Transport has attracted mixed feelings from stakeholders of the maritime sector .
The Senate President , Godswill Akpabio will preside over the one day hearing at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The crucial meeting will attract stakeholders from the various sub sector of the industry even as agencies from the Marine and Blue Economy Ministry are expected to be in attendance.
Senator Eshilokun in an exclusive chat on Sunday disclosed that stakeholders from the private and public sector will be in attendance to dissect the bill .
The Senator representing Lagos Central also maintained that stakeholders input are critical for the Bill ‘s smooth sailing.
