EMPOWERMENT: Senator Eshilokun Presents Cheques To 120 Students For Education Support Programme

The Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni on Thursday, presented cheques to 120 students for the 2024 scholarship and education support programme.

The Nigerian senator also distributed educational materials to five primary schools from the five old Local Government Areas; as well as hospital equipment to one of the public health institutions in the district.

Speaking at the first edition of stewardship presentation to the constituents of Lagos Senatorial District held in Yaba, Lagos , Eshilokun urged the beneficiaries to place premium on education adding that the cash will be increased in the next phase of exercise.

The Senator who doubles as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transport and Blue Economy noted that over 1500 youths and Senior Secondary Students, were trained simultaneously, in all the 13 LGAs and LCDAs that make up the district as part of measures and facilitation of a digital training programme tagged: Let’s Go Digital.

Highlighting some of the achievements in the last eight months as a senator, Eshilokun affirmed that ”In consonance with today’s event, I am delighted to report that since my assumption of office, I have recorded some modest achievements which has been carefully documented in the pamphlet titled, The 10th Senate: The Journey So Far, which must have been given to you at this event. It contains all the activities, programmes and projects that I have embarked upon from the day you freely gave me your mandate. ”

“I distributed free GCE forms to final year Senior Secondary student constituents to lessen the financial burden of my people.

“My dear political leaders and cherished Constituents, the highpoint of today’s event is the presentation of cheques to 120 successful beneficiaries of the 2024 Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun Scholarship and Education Support Programme, after going through a rigorous screening exercise.

He said” While commending and congratulating you for your success among the numerous applicants, I urge you to study harder to improve on your current best.

Still on education, the Lagos politician pointed out within the period under review, over two thousand JAMB (UTME) forms were distributed to the 75 public Senior Secondary schools, 3 Federal Government (Unity) colleges and several private students in the 93 wards within the district. ”

According to him, the senior citizens were not left out in the last eight months as a 2023 Elderly Citizens Assistance Scheme (ECAS) was created with the theme: Our Elder: Our Fountain of Wisdom, saying that the scheme aimed to celebrate the elderly in the district.

He stressed that the programme for the elderly, involved giving out N10,000 cash and fabrics to over 2000 elderly ones selected from the 13 LGAs/LCDAs within the district.

Speaking further, the senator said”After the election, I published my social pact with the people of Lagos Central Senatorial district, tagged: My Legislative Agenda, wherein I set out what I hope to do for my people.

“Afterwards, in continuation of the legacy of excellence I inherited from Yeye Asiwaju, I gave out Sallah gifts, in the form of rams, bags of rice, and cash in some instances, to our political and traditional leaders in the district

The senator has also distributed three sets of palliatives to the constituents, cutting across all spectra of the society.
