NSCDC Marine Squad Arrests Two, Impounds Boat, Smuggled PMS,  In Akwa Ibom Waterways

The Marine Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Akwa Ibom State Command has arrested 2 suspects and impounded 150 drums of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) conveyed in a large wooden boat on the high sea in Ibeno Local Government Area of the State.

It was gathered that the suspects attempted  smuggle the commodities to neighbouring country.

Acting on credible intelligence, the NSCDC Marine Squad hit the waterways with the Corps’ Gunboat.

According to NSCDC facebook page on Saturday, operatives of the security outfit also, chased and intercepted the boat very close to the Atlantic Ocean while attempting to smuggle petrol into Cameroon.

Recall that the Nigeria(NSCDC), Akwa Ibom state command, had raided an illegal fuel dump site located in Eket local government area where Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) known as diesel and dual-purpose Kerosene were stored in large quantities for distribution to various parts of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Friday Ekerete, and made available to newsmen in Uyo, Thursday.

The statement said the operatives of the anti-vandal squad of NSCDC, led by CSC Edem Sunday, acting on intelligence, stormed the apartment used for the illicit act in Ikot Udoma in Eket LGA in the early hours of Tuesday, 11th October 2022.

It said two suspects, Francis Udoh Warri,  55 , and Uduak Sunday Johnson, 42, were arrested while other suspects fled after sighting officials of NSCDC.
