NPA: TCIPC Reaffirms Commitment To Strengthen Collaboration With Police
Determined to harp on effective policing and orderliness , management of Tin Can Island Port Complex (TCIPC) on Monday , reaffirmed commitment to collaborate with the Nigerian Police Force to ensure effective working environment for stakeholders in furtherance for protect businesses and promoting trade facilitation.
Port Manager , TCIPC of the NPA ,Mr. Buba Jubril stated this, when the newly deployed Divisional Police Officers from Tin Can Island , S.S. Liman paid a working visit to his office in Lagos.
Jubril said despite the DPO’s few days in office, he has been able to understand the peculiarity in port operations noting that the synergy would further harmonise the working relationship with other sister agencies operating at the port.
He assured the police personnel that management would try as much as possible to assist with logistics to patrol the port environment regularly, adding that the two DPOs at Tin Can Island and RORO Port have been supportive in port security.
He also urged the two DPOs to work together in ensuring sanity and orderliness within Tin Can Island Port Complex noting that trade can only be facilitated when there is peace and harmony at the seaports.
He noted that “The visit was based on information sharing and security briefing on the port situation because this is part of their duty to ensure optimal security at the port and regular engagement with us.
Jubril further stressed the need for the Port Police Officers to also engage management on strategies to improve the security situation at the port.
The Port Manager pointed out ” I admire the DPO pace of learning despite his age; I love the way he is catching up with port operations and the technically. Am surprised at the level of Understanding in the maritime industry.”
On his part the DPO also thanked the Port Manager, TCIPC for the support and encouragement given to operatives of the Nigeria Police Force at Tin Can Island Port Complex, noting that security is a collective effort of every citizen in the protection of lives and properties.
Liman was accompanied by the RORO Divisional Police Officer, Mrs Christy Ohuei.
