Niger State Govt Bans Eid-el Maulud Processions

The Niger State Government has banned all forms of Eid-el Maulud processions, rallies and gatherings on the streets that will lead to the blocking of roads in the State.

For: Secretary to the Government of Niger State in a statement on Thursday, also announced the banning of all forms of protests and processions across the state with immediate effect.

“This is to inform the general public that the Niger State Government has announced the banning of all forms of protests and processions across the State with immediate effect.”

According to the statement, the decision to ban protests and processions is as a result of the security situation in the country occasioned by end SARS protests.

The State Government has also banned all forms of Eid-el Maulud processions, rallies and gatherings on the Streets that will lead to the blocking of roads in the State.

The statement said muslim clerics are therefore advice that to ensure Eid-el Maulud activities are celebrated within their localities.

The state government said it would continue to respect the right of the people to go about with their legitimate activities; adding that it would however not allow any group to abuse the right of the citizens by breaking the law and infringing on other people’s rights in the community and public roads.
