NAGAFF Begins Sale Of Nomination Forms For Western Zone Elections

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has opened sale of nomination forms for its Western Zone chapter elections, with the Electoral Commission unveiling strict eligibility criteria, financial obligations and penalties for misconduct.
Acting Chairman of the NAGAFF Electoral Commission (NECOM), Mr. Justice Ngige, said forms went on sale on Monday and must be completed and returned by Thursday, June 18, 2026.
Prospective candidates are required to collect nomination forms and submit supporting documents at the commission’s front desk, including valid membership ID cards and proof of up-to-date payments to both NAGAFF and the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).
The NECOM Chairman said only registered members of the chapter where a contest is held are eligible to run. Aspirants must be at least 25 years old, have maintained NAGAFF membership for a minimum of two months before the election, and hold relevant freight‑forwarding qualifications or current CRFFN membership.
According to him, graduates of the NAGAFF Academy and affiliated maritime institutions will be given preference. Employees of freight‑forwarding and licensed customs firms may register through their employers. Chairmanship candidates must be at least 30 years old.
The NECOM boss emphasized that aspirants must have paid annual NAGAFF subscriptions for at least two months preceding the election and said the Executive Chairman and National President may verify chapter dues; non-compliance could lead to disqualification. Each candidate must present at least two referees who are registered NAGAFF members in good standing.
He stressed that NECOM also reserved the right to disqualify any candidate after due consultation, adding that voting will take place by secret physical ballot at the NAGAFF Headquarters from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; votes will be counted and results declared immediately. NECOM warned that abusive language, intimidation, violence or any actions that could destabilize chapters would attract sanctions ranging from disqualification to expulsion.
On financial requirements, existing members Ngige pointed out must clear four years of NAGAFF subscriptions (2023–2026) totaling N17,000 — N2,500 each for 2023 and 2024, and N6,000 each for 2025 and 2026 — and provide proof of CRFFN payments for the same period. New members are required to pay a N10,000 registration fee plus a N6,000 annual subscription (N16,000 total) and must register with CRFFN for 2026 to be eligible for screening.
The NECOM Chief said ongoing chapter registration for the election closes on Thursday, June 18, 2026; only members registered within the stipulated period will qualify for screening, and chapter registers will be collected for accreditation. Electioneering opened on Monday, May 18, and will close 24 hours before the polls.
“Election petition tribunals will sit at the NAGAFF headquarters immediately after the election for up to two days. Members with unpaid remittances to their chapters may also face disqualification.”he maintained.
The Western Zone chapters participating are Apapa, Tincan, PTML, Airport, KLT, Ikorodu and Seme Border.
