MWUN Seamen,NIWA Branch Elects New Officers In Delta State
Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria Market Road Unit, private craft, Warri, of has elected 11- man executive to run its affairs for another four years.
The Delta State District chairman (MWUN) Seamen, NIWA and Water Transport branch, Comrade Boro Ekotoro, who conducted the election, charged the newly elected officers to work as team with other members to move the union forward.
Ekotoro tasked the elected chairman, Chief Godwin Kerebor, to bring in new ideas and initiatives that would attract government participation into the maritime sector.
He noted that there is “need for the union to involve government at all levels to tackle insecurity on waterways, water hyacinth challenges and others to making the state maritime sector a hub to boost the Internally Generated Revenue.

The maritime boss, while challenging them to have interactions with the state government and other relevant stakeholders on ways to attract investment into the sector, explained that Lagos State is what it is today because of the developed maritime sector and “Delta State government can take a cue from it.
Those elected and inaugurated were; Chief Godwin Kerebor, Chairman; Chief John Ekotoro, vice chairman; Mr. Oki Yerin, secretary; Mr. Lucky Fawei, assistant secretary; Mr. Cletus Itare, treasurer; and Mr. Paul Edumogren, ex-officio.
Other members of the executive were; Chief Ifiye Oruware, ex-officio; Mr. Rawlings Benike, ex-officio; Ifitibou Johnson, ex- officio, Chief Samuel E. Brizimor, ex-officio and Mrs Anna Amos as a special woman.
Kerebor promised to work with every member and attract government participation in the maritime sector.
