MWUN P-G, Bunu Salutes Workers’ Resilience, Urges Diligence Unity On May Day
The President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has commended Nigerian workers on May Day, praising their resilience, commitment, and dedication in driving national progress despite ongoing challenges across all industrial sectors.
According to a statement on Thursday by the Head of Media MWUN Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, quoted Bunu urging workers to remain steadfast, emphasizing that diligence brings dignity to labour and will ultimately yield rewards and recognition, both at home and abroad. Bunu encouraged all Nigerian workers to continue striving for excellence, assuring them that their efforts will not go unrewarded.

The MWUN leader called on workers to uphold professionalism and persistently demand their legitimate rights, expressing confidence that, despite current difficulties, government authorities will eventually respond positively to workers’ concerns.
Bunu also congratulated members of the union’s four branches-Nigerian Ports Authority, Dockworkers, Seafarers, and Shipping-for their unwavering commitment to advancing Nigeria’s maritime industry. He praised industry stakeholders for fostering peace and cooperation, urging continued collaboration to ensure efficient port operations and improved worker welfare.
Acknowledging the economic hardships and inflation affecting workers, Bunu expressed hope that the Federal Government will soon implement measures to improve workers’ livelihoods.
He wished all Nigerians a memorable May Day and prayed that their efforts to strengthen the nation’s economy would not go in vain.
