MWUN Boss Reiterates Commitment To Prioritize Workers Welfare, Bags Another Award

The President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN),Comrade Adewale Adeyanju on Monday, reiterated the labour organisation commitment in prioritizing workers welfare and to ensure industrial peace in port operations.

Adeyanju made this known during an award ceremony conferred on him by the management team of Time News Reporters.

Recall that the labour leader bagged two prestigious awards a month ago for his exemplary leadership qualities.

Speaking at the award presentation, the MWUN boss maintained that the responsibility of every labour leader must be centred on protection of workers welfare and other challenges faced by them.

The President General of MWUN who dedicated the award to management and members of the union, stressed that the maritime sector plays key roles in nation building and revenue generation for the government, adding that the cordial relationship that coexist between stakeholders and the union made it possible for the sector to record significant progress.

He said ” the Award is not for me alone; it’s for the system, it’s for management and its for stakeholders and members of the union.

“Since we came on board ,I can tell you that we have a robust working relationship with our various employers and that has kept the union going “, the MWUN stated.

He also assured that the union will continue to engage stakeholders for the growth and development of the nation’s maritime industry .
The Award tagged “Excellence Performance and Productivity” is an annual laurel by the media outfit to honour stakeholders who have contributed immensely to their respective sector.

While presenting the award earlier, Editor of the e – news platform, Mrs Pearl Ngwama said the award was in line with the second year anniversary of the media outfit, pointing out that Comrade Adeyanju deserved the laurel due to his passion and compassion for the maritime workers in Nigeria.

The Editor explained that the MWUN boss has been instrumental towards ensuring job security for workers since assuming the leadership position in 2017, describing him as an agent of change in maritime operations.

She also endorsed the union’s boss for a second term re-election to further consolidate the progress recorded so far in the sub sector.

While harping on numerous achievements recorded in the last three years by the labour leader, Mrs Ngwama said: “From workers welfare , to the elimination of casual workers in the industry , and industrial peace and harmony in the sector, he deserves the award.

“He is a man that ensured that the industry succeed ,with strong passion for workers welfare therefore he deserved the laurel “,she noted .
