The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association,an affiliate from Trade Union Congress (TUC) has mourned the Late President , Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN Comrade Francis Johnson.
Late Comrade Johnson, it was learnt, died in the wee hours of Friday.
The deceased, who became President of the senior staff union in 2014, was said to have passed on after an ailment.
According to a statement made available to Dailyfocus News Online on Friday, the NMNOWTSSA described the late PENGASSAN boss as an icon of sincerity, adding that the death of Comrade Johnson came as a shock to the seafaring union and the entire TUC family.
The statement signed by the Deputy Secretary General of the union, Comrade John Okpono said Late Comrade Johnson will be remembered for his many contributions proffering solutions to other affiliates challenges.
The statement said”The late President of PENGASSAN was an icon of sincerity. A straight and disciplined comrade.
“Very promising gentleman. His death is a shocker to us his close pal and a great loss to the TUC family in particular and the labour struggle in general.
“He will be remembered for many time he proffer solution’s to other affiliates challenges.
“A personal friend and also to NMNO/WTSSA. The late comrade was an icon of truth and easy going Union leader.
“We love him but God loves him more.
NMNO/WTSSA will forever remembered him for his moral/advise support.
” He will evergreen remain in our memories. We sincerely sympathise with his family, PENGASSAN, TUC & the federating Union.
“WORDS CAN’T express our deep sorrowful mood. A vacuum has been created. Life It’s just nothing but vanity.
Adieu comrade SOJ”, Okpono added in the statement.
It was gathered that the late PENGASSAN boss, was gunning to contest for the post of President General of the TUC forthcoming election .
The election is expected to hold in June .
